PieRista

Job Summary:

The PieRista is responsible for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer. He/she is also responsible for educating customers about our premium coffees, teas and pies. The Pierista fulfills any other duties the store manager, assistant manager or shift supervisor assigns and represents Proud Pie in a professional manner.

Product:

  • Ensures that all customers are educated on our products and services.

  • Maintains the highest quality, consistent product standards.

  • Follows all Company drink recipes and procedures.

  • Passes monthly re-certifications in a timely manner.

  • Develops an understanding of coffee and tea regions and the various differences in flavor and blends.

  • Begins to educate themselves on the various types of coffee, tea products, blends and roasts.

  • Proficiently prepares blended and cold drinks provided by the store.

  • Develops an understanding of our fresh pies and how they are prepared.

Service:

  • Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.

  • Verbally receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner.

  • Reports all customer complaints to manager on duty.

  • Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations.

  • Accurately rings sales orders into cash register and counts back change to customers in a courteous and friendly manner.

  • Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner including, but not limited to, giving store greeting, directions to store location, and receiving and filling customer orders.

  • Answers customer questions regarding coffee blends, preparation, and product freshness.

  • Sells and serves pies, baked goods and miscellaneous food items to customers.

  • Maintains efficient, friendly service.

Environment:

  • Restocks shelves when necessary.

  • Routinely cleans the bar area, floor, windows and grinders, restrooms and takes out trash, etc.

Requirements, Qualifications & Physical Demands:

  • Entry level position.

  • Runs errands, when needed, to pick up supplies and/or product.

  • May work special events, as needed.

  • Maintains positive Company morale and professional attitude.

  • Must be able to work overtime, as needed.

Shift Leader/Supervisor

Job Summary:

The shift supervisor is responsible for assisting the store manager in maintaining a positive environment, which provides fast, efficient, and friendly service ensuring a Total Quality Experience for both our customers and team members. Shift supervisors assist in training, customer service, product knowledge and education, encouraging safe work practices, and a demonstrated commitment to our Guiding Principles and House Rules. This position directly supervises the PieRista positions and acts as the manager on duty in the absence of the store and/or assistant manager.

Store Operations:

  • Maintains a clean, organized and stocked environment and when necessary assists in the distribution of product shipments.

  • Performs all POS duties, front and back of house functions including opening and closing procedures, coordinating with the Owner as necessary.

  • Establishes effective and positive communication amongst all team members.

  • Assists store manager in maintaining proper coverage and team member schedules ensuring that the store maintains customer service standards and team members adhere to meal and break policy.

  • Ensures all cash handling procedures are upheld. Is accountable for store funds while running a shift.

  • Assists store manager in planning and executing all sales promotions effectively and efficiently.

  • Will provide guidance and actively set an example for team members, ensuring that all Standard Operating Procedures are maintained and followed.

  • Follows and directs team members to follow store policies, procedures and adhere to merchandising and cleanliness standards.

  • Promotes and practices safe work habits, reporting potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and team member incidents to the store manager. Reports/documents team member accidents, conducts initial investigation and determinations of root cause in the interest of maintaining a safe work environment.

Service:

  • Is the Role Model for outstanding service and “owner” of the service initiative at his/her store during his/her shift.

  • Pro-active in solving customer problems and satisfying customers in various situations.

  • Ensures that all Team Members follow the Standard Operating Procedures lead by greeting and responding to all customers with fast, efficient, friendly and personalized service. Strives to develop a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.

  • Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations. Investigates and resolves customer incidents, documenting if necessary.

  • Consistently monitors, coaches and encourages team members to meet the Company’s service standards.

Product:

  • Follows all Company drink recipes and procedures, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards.

  • Ensures that all team members are educated on our products and services, by developing an understanding of our various types of pies, coffee, tea products, blends and roasts, as well as knowledge of coffee and tea regions, and the various differences in flavor and blends.

  • Tastes products on a per shift basis for quality assurance.

  • Training & Development:

  • Demonstrates the ability to lead, communicate and champion the Unique Unicorn Guiding Principles, House Rules and Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Provides coaching and training to pieristas and lead pieristas on performance expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum one year of retail or six months of specialty coffee experience. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

  • Basic computer skills required.

  • Must be able to work overtime, including weekends, evenings and special events as needed.

  • Well-organized and detail-oriented and able to multi-task.

  • This position will require frequent standing and use of hands and arms.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist.

  • Frequently required to use hand and finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.

Baker

Job Summary:

The baker is responsible for leading the kitchen in the efficient and profitable operation of Proud Pie. He/she is responsible for managing the day-to-day baking operations, maintaining high quality standards and conditions, and fostering a positive environment.

General Duties:

  • Weighs and measures ingredients, using measuring cups and spoons.

  • Mixes ingredients to form dough or batter by hand or using electric mixer.

  • Rolls and shapes dough, using rolling pin and cuts dough in uniform portions with knife, divider, cookie cutter.

  • Molds dough in desired shapes, places dough in greased or floured pans, and trims overlapping edges with knife.

  • Mixes and cooks pie fillings, and pours fillings into pie shells and tops filling with meringue or cream.

  • Checks production schedule to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake

  • Spreads or sprinkles toppings on loaves or specialties and places dough in oven, using long-handled paddle (peel)

  • Covers filling with top crust; places pies in oven; and adjust drafts or thermostatic controls to regulate oven temperatures.

  • Mixes ingredients to make icings, decorates cakes and pastries, and blends colors for icings, shaped ornaments, and statuaries.

  • Cuts, peels, and prepares fruit for pie fillings

  • Develops and executes sales and profit plans that are in-line with budgetary goals.

  • Ensures and is accountable for profitability of the store by growing sales and controlling costs of goods, inventory levels, labor, supplies and expenses.

  • Maintains and utilizes daily, weekly, quarterly production tools.

  • Ensures proper team member coverage, scheduling according to the needs of business.

  • Maintains a clean well-stocked kitchen and refrigeration/storage

  • Plans, executes and communicates all production effectively and efficiently.

  • Promotes and practices safe work habits, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and any team member or customer incidents.

Product:

  • Ensures that all  recipes and procedures are followed, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards.

  • Ensures that all Company pies and food offerings maintain the highest quality.

  • Ensures that all team members are educated on our products and recipes, by developing an understanding of our various types pies and baked goods.

Qualifications:

  • High school education. 3 years bakery experience required.

  • Familiar with software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

  • Must be able to work overtime, including weekends, evenings and special events as needed.

  • Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task.

  • Must have effective problem solving/decision making abilities.

  • This position will require frequent standing and use of hands and arms.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist.

  • Frequently required to use hand and finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.

  • Must be able to adjust vision to both day and night lighting, and be able to focus on distant and close-range projects. Regularly required to handle food, hot beverages, and work with sharp objects.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
